Current Professional Aims: 

To establish myself as a clinician-scientist, facilitating inter-disciplinary research collaborations with my clinical work as a generator of research questions. 

 

In the last 3 years I have focused on: 

  • Founding an Orthopaedic 3D printing laboratory and researching the effect on Orthopaedic practice. (Focus of PhD research)
  • Starting a career as an academic, taking on teaching, research supervision and administrative duties in Div of Clinical Anatomy.
  • Expanding my clinical proficiencies in deformity correction surgery and the treatment of chronic osteomyelitis by working at the Limb Reconstruction unit at Tygerberg Hospital.
  • Developing young medical professionals and academics through engaging teaching and research supervision, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Functioning as sessional consultant in the Tumour, Sepsis and Recon Unit and also supporting the Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction Surgery fellowship that is accommodated at our unit.

 

Part Time (3/8) Lecturer (Grade 8) and Researcher

Teaching, research supervision, module development and research outputs.

 

OrthoTrauma: Part-time associated group practice, after-hours Orthopaedic emergencies only.

Co-founding partner of a part-time associated group practice, consisting of a group of newly

qualified Orthopaedic surgeons that are invited by established Orthopaedic surgeons to cover after hours Orthopaedic emergency service at their hospitals. Operates at several hospitals in the Northern Suburbs of Cape town and up the West Coast.
